Educational Philosophy

I am very passionate about what I teach as I am passionate about my students. I believe every child has potential and it's my job to help them reach that potential. My goal is to facilitate learning. I think a good teacher is one who teaches students how to learn instead of force feeding lecture notes and quizzes. I believe in an interactive learning environment where students get out of their desks and on their feet. I promote an atmosphere where self confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills are promoted and used daily. Not every student is meant to become a Broadway star, but as long as my students walk away from my classroom with a new respect for my particular art form, and more importantly a deeper respect for themselves, then my class was a success in my book. I'm sure this philosophy will change as my experience grows, but this much will stay constant. I want to be a role model for my students; someone who is fair but firm and most of all fun!
